DiskGO 32GB USB 2 Flash Drive

DiskGO Flash Drive (Image courtesy EDGE Tech Corporation)

If you think the 160 GB External Drive I posted earlier is still too big to carry around on a daily basis, then your only other option for a decent amount of storage on-the-go is a flash drive. I can remember when 32MB on your keychain was mind-blowing, but that seems absolutely minuscule when you can now get a 32GB version instead.

At that size, USB 2.0 almost seems too slow for copying data if you intend to completely fill the drive. The DiskGO also includes a copy of Cryptarchiver Lite, which can be used to encrypt your data up to 128AES. When you consider how much data can be easily lost with a drive this small, encrypting your files is really not a bad idea.

The 32GB version of the DiskGO is available from the Edge Tech EDGE Tech website for $399.95, but smaller, more affordable versions are also available.

Latest MP4 wristwatch sports an FM transmitter

We're all but convinced that nobody actually wears these video-playing watches out in public, but just in case there's some otherworldly group out there that takes pride in adorning their wrists with timepieces that are utterly heinous, you're in luck. This iteration sports a 1.8-inch 160 x 128 resolution OLED display, integrated media player that handles MP3, WMA and MP4 files, a built-in Li-ion, 4GB of internal memory, voice recording capability, USB 2.0 connectivity and an FM transmitter for good measure. All this can be yours for the above average price of $126, but if you have any respect for yourself whatsoever, you'll glide right on past this one.

Blog Tang A+

While the Blog Tang A+ seems to fall short in the blogging department, there's plenty to make up for that. Like a 4.3-inch LCD, 30fps "high-def" video and up to 160GB of storage. Codec support is plentiful, including fan-faves like OGG in addition to the usual video and audio suspects, and there's line-in recording as well as TV out. The 40GB version starts the bidding at 1,299 yuan ($173 US), with prices up to 2,199 yuan ($293) for 160GB

A-DATA unveils 16GB SDHC Class 6 flash cards

16GB SDHC cards aren't all that atypical these days, but A-DATA is claiming to have the "world's first 16GB SDHC Class 6" iteration ready to roll. Additionally, the firm is introducing an 8GB Super SDHC Duo (saywha?) card of the Class 4 variety, and for those still scouting a new CompactFlash card, it's cranking out a 32GB version for you. Regrettably, we've no idea how soon A-DATA plans to get these on the market (nor how much it plans to charge), but it shouldn't be long before we all find out.

IOGEAR

We know, "back to school" isn't exactly a phrase that brings a smile to most students, but IOGEAR is hoping to get you a bit more jazzed up than usual about the fall semester with a new duo of products. Following the Digital Scribe, the firm has now unveiled a 4GB Flash Wallet Drive and 3-in-1 Wireless Phaser Presentation Mouse to presumably help you with your studies. The uber-thin wallet drive ($69.95) measures in at just 3-millimeters thick and ought to hold quite a few research papers, while the wireless mouse ($59.95) combines a laser pointer and track ball to aid you in making those presentations go as smoothly as possible. Both products should already be available at your campus store or nearby big box retailer.

Iocell kicks out waterproof MDrive USB key in Korea

Sure, we’ve seen USB drives that shun water like it’s their job before, but Iocell’s iteration of the waterproof flash drive comes in a nearly irresistible package. This ultrathin drive makes for an excellent keychain adornment, and the Taegeuk pattern — reportedly honed for this device by Young-Se Kim, CEO of INNO Design — leaves no doubt that this sucka is aimed squarely at South Koreans. The MDrive is reportedly set to launch this week, and while the 1GB edition will run you ₩39,000 ($42), the 2GB flavor will ring up at ₩59,000 ($63). Click on through for a couple more looks.

Colorful Mobile Phone Headphone Adapters

Mobile Phone Plug Adapter (Images courtesy Dreams)
One of the current trends in cellphones that I particularly hate is the lack of a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. (And I know I’m not alone.) Almost every phone on the market now has some degree of music playback capabilities yet for the most part to use your own headphones (as opposed to the crappy bundled ones) you also need to use some inconvenient adapter. Even my iPhone which is supposed to be the pinnacle of an MP3-capable phone requires a short adapter to deal with the sunken 3.5mm jack.

So enough of my rant and onto a possible solution. These mobile phone plug adapters connect to a phone’s data port and provide a standard 3.5mm jack for plugging in any pair of headphones. And when not in use the adapters can be used as colorful phone charms ensuring they’re always with your phone whenever you want to use them. Unfortunately though I can’t figure out if the adapters are available in multiple versions for different types of phones/data ports or if they simply connect to any mini-USB port.
